Pumpkin Donation to CSD Clinic

Several pumpkins were donated to the Communication Disorders Clinic this past week for clinicians to use in therapy activities in the Preschool Language Classroom (PLC). Alex Edmisten, Scottish Rite Liaison to the Clinic, and Jenny Ward, Director of Development for the Beaver College of Health Sciences, coordinated the donation from a local farmer.

The donated pumpkins were used in the PLC to facilitate their communicate goals through exploration of the pumpkins. Children scooped out the pumpkin seeds and prepared them for baking and eating later on. The pumpkins were also placed in the PLC playground area to create a pumpkin patch and each child chose a pumpkin to take home.

This wonderful donation created multiple opportunities for communication and learning through activities related to the pumpkins. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders thanks Alex, Jenny and the local farmer for their kind-hearted donation.
