Biography:

Dr. Adrienne Miao is an Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. She completed a BA from Haverford College, an MS in Occupational Therapy and PhD in Occupational Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Her dissertation research explored the negotiation of family occupations.  Dr. Miao’s clinical work has included developmental assessment, disability measurement, and pediatric therapy, with a focus on improving access to education for students with complex learning profiles.  Dr. Miao comes to App State from the University of Vermont, where she worked on the Interdisciplinary Team, Pediatric Professionals Collaborative, and the Vermont Continence Project through the Center on Disability and Community Inclusion.  Dr. Miao is dedicated to supporting children and families’ participation in their communities and collaborating to create meaningful, manageable daily routines.
